Doom scrolling revisited, check out this podcast, + bonus puppy pic

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to get in the groove of writing more regularly, as some of you have said that you really enjoy hearing from me. That is so sweet and thank you!

Here's just a few things:

  • Accountability on the doom scrolling: I've been falling off with limiting my screen time using the controls on the IPhone. I keep finding myself hitting the button that lets me be on social media for juuuuust fifteen more minutes...and hitting that button again and again. Someone recommended using the ClearSpace app (it's free!) and I'm going to try that instead.

  • I was interviewed on Stephanie Warren's podcast Focus on Your Own Family. Do you know Stephanie? Her Instagram handle is The Strong Willed Child, a direct reference to being raised under the James Dobson ethos. Stephanie is such a badass. The conversation I had with her was one of my favorite interviews. We talked about:
    • The influence of Christian fundamentalism on sexuality and identity, even for those who didn’t grow up inside it
    • My work supporting purity culture and fundamentalism survivors, and why trauma-informed sex education is essential for rebuilding trust in our own bodies
    • The process of reconnecting with our physical selves after years of shame, suppression, or fear
    • Navigating boundaries, communication, and open conversations in relationships and families
    • How to talk with teens about sex, including handling parental anxiety, intergenerational shame, and what developmentally appropriate conversations actually look like
    • Concrete, practical guidance for parents, from discussing consent to normalizing curiosity to making space for autonomy
    • Reframing “virginity” as a sexual debut and why language matters for healing

And finally, just for some relief from the heavy stuff, here's an updated pic of my puppy. He's almost 6 months old now. Anyone have tips on how to keep an Australian Cattle Dog puppy entertained? lol
