Maybe you're still feeling some hope from the Election Day results (here in PA we retained three very important Supreme Court Justices!)? I'm gonna try to keep it on theme.

Purity Culture Dropout Success Stories

One of my favorite things is getting updates from people, even years later, about our work together. The thing about rethinking your relationship to sexuality after purity culture is that it takes time. Progress unfolds over years. How does that look in real life?

Some recent notable highlights:

A woman who did the PCD Individual Program with me in 2021 reached out to tell me what her life is like post-divorce from an abusive partner, and how she's now in a relationship that she never knew possible- and the sexual relationship is hot, pleasurable, and most importantly she feels SO SAFE.

I may or may not have cried reading her email. (I definitely cried. She deserves this so much!)

This week I had an individual session with someone who did the PCD Queer Support Groups in 2020. She booked to tell me all about her sexual debut earlier this year and how she's exploring her sexuality alone and with partners. She can barely believe she's come so far. She spoke with ZERO SHAME, just full self confidence, and I cannot even tell you how happy that made me. Even when the purity culture voices rear up in her head, she knows how to shut them down.

Then there's this message I received on social media a few weeks ago:

A thing about me is that I am actually SO invested in your well being. These messages mean the world to me.

Movie Night 🍿

You should know about this film that's finally available for the general public's viewing: True Believer by filmmaker Kristin Irving-Jordan.

The short description: As her faith community betrays the Jesus they taught her to love, an evangelical filmmaker reckons with the political identity she built her life on.

This movie is SO GOOD. As an outsider to Evangelicism, I found it poignant, moving, and emotional. People who grew up like Kristin will find that it resonates deeply. You can watch it here for only $6.99, and I encourage you to do so. ​
